Tackett Communications was formed in September 2006 by media specialist Judith R. Tackett.

Judy has a strong background in daily news journalism and holds a master's degeree in Mass Media Communications. She grew up in Switzerland and moved to the United States in 1995 where she completed her graduate degree while working for a start-up daily paper in Nashville, Tenn.

She was one of the first journalists employed by the Nashville City Paper and was able to study the struggles of a new start-up media business and learn from it.

Prior to joining the City Paper, Judy worked as a freelance contributor in medium news markets in Switzerland and the United States. She was the first foreign student to be named editor of The Vision, the campus paper of Belmont University in Nashville, where Judy earned her bachelor's degree as a double major in Journalism and Political Science. As a news reporter Judy stressed the importance to lend a voice to people who cannot make themselves heard. Thus, next to her regular beats covering state and local politics and policies, Judy wrote extensively about foster children, juvenile justice and homelessness. She was honored with the Kids Count 2006 media award for writing about children's issues in a large print media market in Tennessee.

Since leaving daily journalism, Judy has continued writing articles for state and national magazines. In addition, she creates newsletters, press releases and consults nonprofit and government agencies in communications and media matters.

Her love of animals, nature, history and architecture is easily observed in her photographs, which are featured alongside some of her articles. In one of her next ventures, Judy wants to learn broadcast reporting and combine it with online in-depth news articles. She intends to launch a monthly newsletter in 2008.
